WorkCover has extended the use of the COVID-19 telehealth and telephone items to all medical practitioners and/or patients who are unable to consult face to face during this pandemic to ensure continuity of patient care.

These item codes are aligned with the changes recently announced on the 29 March 2020 by the Hon. Greg Hunt MP, Minister for Health to make available telehealth and phone consultations to all Australians; removing the restrictions previously placed on these item codes.
Effective from the 13 March 2020, WorkCover published fees that are aligned with WorkCover’s existing items for face to face consultations, which are above those rates published by Medicare for bulk billing. These fees are listed in the above Table of Costs.
WorkCover has also made available FAQs on our website to assist medical providers to answer questions around their patients workers’ compensation claims and potential impact on ongoing treatment and rehabilitation as part of the claim.
