Medical Students

AMA Queensland represents you on the important issues that affect you now at university and during your future career in medicine. We lobby on behalf of our student members on funding for medical school places, intern and specialty training positions and  ensure the adequate provision of work and training places for graduating students.

AMA Queensland provides you with:

  • Free student membership, including online access to Doctor Q magazine, and our e-newsletters Pulse and Events & Training
  • Practical advice on matters relating to your University, Medical Board of Australia Registration or assistance with the intern application process
  • A range of free professional development workshops through-out your university career to assist you in gaining the competitive edge in your career in medicine
  • Access to our Careers Advisory Service – a one-stop shop for careers advice and information, resume and cover letter review and interview skills coaching

Who are the AMA Queensland Council of Doctors in Training?

The Council of Doctors in Training (CDT) is the peak advocacy group for junior doctors in Queensland. Representatives on CDT come from individual hospitals and medical schools. CDT advocates for junior doctors’ interests and hosts regular social and professional development events for students and doctors-in-training. As the next generation of doctors, medical students are welcome and encouraged to participate in CDT.
