MC: Sophie Scott
ABC Health Reporter
Sophie Scott is on a mission to educate and empower people to focus on their health and happiness. She is the ABC’s National Medical Reporter of news and current affairs in medicine and health on ABC news, radio, 7.30 and ABC online.
Sophie is an award-winning journalist; her accolades include a Eureka Award for medical reporting and a Kennedy Award for excellence in consumer reporting. Her stories on patient safety have led to changes in the regulation of cosmetic surgery in Australia and increased government support and resources for patients with eating disorders.
She is a Board Member of AMA NSW Charitable Foundation, an ambassador for Bowel Cancer Australia and the author of two books, Live a Longer Life and Roadtesting Happiness. She is on the Advisory Board of the Australian National Mental Health Prize and writes about psychology and wellbeing on her website sophiescott.com.au. Sophie has been an MC, host and facilitator for many organisations over the years.

Dr Yumiko Kadota
Founder, Mind Body Miko
Dr Yumiko Kadota graduated from the University of New South Wales in 2010. She experienced burnout as a plastic surgery registrar last year, which forced her resignation. She has since been focusing on recovery and wellness, including yoga teaching. Prior to her hospitalisation for insomnia and post-traumatic stress, Yumiko decided to start a blog to give herself something to do whilst in hospital. Her blog post The ugly side of becoming a surgeon prompted a nationwide discussion on the working conditions of junior doctors, and made international news. Yumiko is utilising this platform to advocate for junior doctors’ wellbeing.

Dr Bethan Richards
Chief Medical Wellness Officer and Director, WellMD Centre SLHD
Dr Bethan Richards is Australia’s first Chief Medical Wellness Officer and Director of the WellMD Centre, Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). She is also Head of the Department of Rheumatology at Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital in Sydney, and Deputy Director of the Institute for Musculoskeletal Health, SLHD. Throughout her career, Dr Richards has had extensive experience and a passion for designing, implementing and evaluating teaching, mentoring and wellbeing programs for doctors at all stages of their careers. In 2017 she conceptualised and implemented the successful “BPTOK” program which is now being rolled out to all doctors in Sydney Local Health District as “MDOK”. As Chief Medical Wellness Officer, Dr Richards is leading organisational efforts to address the issue of stress and burnout at all levels of the medical workforce.
