The Australian Senior Active Doctors Association and AMA Queensland are pleased to announce that the inaugural Senior Active Doctors Conference will be held in  Redcliffe in August this year. The conference will discuss;

  • global trends and models of senior doctor registration,
  • medical reserves,
  • encore careers and roles for senior doctors,
  • navigating the 2023 registration requirements,
  • recency of practice,
  • college requirements,
  • maintaining registration while winding down practice,
  • emerging issues for senior doctors,
  • progressing senior doctor policy, and
  • recent ASADA and AMA Queensland initiatives.

The Senior Active Doctors Conference will be held over 2-days. With sessions guided by our informed panel of speakers, we will cover topics including:

  • How to attain the required CPD for your College once the 2023 changes come into effect.
  • Whether it is possible to have an encore career that includes medicine if you choose to wind down practice.
  • How CPD and recency requirements (of 152 hours per annum) can be maintained while transitioning to reduced hours of practice or changing scope of practice.
  • How the definition of practice can assist you to meet recency while reducing clinical practice.
  • What roles doctors can transition to from full-time clinical practice.
  • What the introduction of health testing for doctors over 70 will mean for you.
  • How a step-down category of registration could work to assist both doctors and the community and what progress has been made in negotiations with government.
  • What steps AMA Queensland and ASADA are taking to support senior active doctors through policy, advocacy, and lobbying.
